i understand your plight,my own asked for costumes since last week,what we told them,we dont celebrate halloween,and my oldest son 10 said just because you guys never celebrate halloween it doesnt mean that we have to!!!

Kids have to follow your advice and rules. When they are older then they have a choice. We don't celebrate Halloween to much in the UK thank goodness.
It's good you little son has an opinion, it's always good to have opinions, it's a shame it's different to yours :)
